Apple announced the iPad Mini 2021 at its ‘California Streaming‘ virtual keynote featuring A15 Bionic, 5G, USB-C, Center Stage, and more. iPad Mini 2021 has an 8.3-inch all-screen Liquid Retina display with True Tone, P3 wide color gamut, and an anti-reflective coating. The new Liquid Retina display offers up to 500 nits of brightness. Apple has moved Touch ID to the power button of the iPad mini. The powerful and efficient A15 Bionic chip with a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU powers the iPad Mini. A 16-core Neural Engine handles advanced machine learning (ML), delivering 2x faster ML tasks than its predecessor. The new A15 Bionic on the iPad mini offers a 40 percent jump in performance and an 80 percent leap in graphics performance compared to the previous generation of an iPad mini.
iPad Mini features a 12MP sensor on the back with Focus Pixels with a larger aperture, a True Tone flash for capturing low-light images, and a 12-megapixel Ultra-Wide camera with a 122-degree field of view enables Center Stage experience on iPad mini. The camera can record 4K video up to 60 fps. The new image signal processor in A15 Bionic with Smart HDR improves image quality by recovering details in highlights and shadows.
The new 2021 iPad Mini supports Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit LTE, eSIM, and 5G with peak 5G speeds of up to 3.5Gbps in ideal conditions. iPad Mini 2021 now features USB-C for high-bandwidth input and output up to 5Gbps data transfer and connects to a vast ecosystem of USB-C accessories, including external storage, cameras, and displays up to 4K. iPad mini 2021 supports 2nd generation Apple Pencil which attaches magnetically to the iPad mini for wireless pairing and charging.
Apple Pencil makes writing as easy and natural as pen and paper deliver pixel-perfect precision and industry-leading low latency. A new slim, lightweight Smart Folio with open-to-wake and close-to-sleep functionality designed for iPad mini comes in beautiful coordinating colors that complement the new iPad mini finishes: Black, White, Dark Cherry, English Lavender, and Electric Orange. The iPad mini starts at $499 for 64GB with Wi-Fi, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular models will start from $649.
