This is made possible with Axie Infinity, where players can collect, raise, breed, battle, and trade token-based creatures known as Axies. Axie Infinity is a battling and trading game built on blockchain created by Sky Mavis in early 2018 and co-founded by Trung Nguyen and Aleksander Larsen. Pokemon and Tamagotchi inspire the game.
Axie Infinity is a play-to-earn NFT game where individuals can earn money while playing the game. Players can raise, breed, and trade Axies in the marketplace. Unlike other blockchain-based trading and battling games, each Axie can be bred only seven times to control the Axies population. Axie Infinity’s mating hub allows players to find a suitable match and breed their Axies for producing rare or powerful offspring, which costs 0.005 ETH and some Smooth Love Potion (SLP) tokens. Smooth Love Potion (SLP) is like any other cryptocurrency you can purchase on Uniswap or Binance.
Axie Infinity (AXS) is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain with a total supply of 270 million tokens. AXS is secured by Ethereum Proof-of-Work (POW) consensus mechanism. Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) is a unique governance token on the Axie Infinity ecosystem. AXS holders can participate in crucial governance votes. 11% of the total supply of AXS provided to Binance Launchpad participants, 4% were sold privately, 29% for staking rewards, 20% to the play to earn pool, 21% to the team, 7% to advisors, and 8% to the ecosystem fund. Axie Infinity token holders can stake their AXS tokens but need to play and vote to receive regular rewards.
